IntroductionThe group has gained international recognition for its research in a unique field and the group leader is dual-qualified in engineering and law. Current research includes the biomechanics of head injuries, shaken baby syndrome, falls and limb fractures, knife wounds, blunt impact trauma and kinematics of assaults. Funding for research has been obtained from the Royal Society, EPSRC, the public and private sectors. Potential supervisors of projects are drawn from a wide range of areas including paediatrics, orthopaedics, pathology, biochemistry and clinical science. Facilities available to the group include access to a full human motion analysis laboratory, high speed cameras, a tissue engineering laboratory, MADYMO and other specially designed computer simulation software.
